1. AM I ABLE TO BRING MY OTHER CHILDREN TO SCHOOL WITH ME ON MY DUTY DAYS?If your younger child is of preschool age (30 months to 5 years) it may be possible for your non-enrolled child to participate, should you be unable to find alternate care. However, you MUST contact the teacher to make sure there are sufficient child space's available in the classroom for him/her as we need to maintain the proper child/staff ratio. If your child meets the age requirement and there is space on that day you also need to fill out the appropriate paperwork for them to be on site so that we are in compliance with child care licensing regulations. 2. WHAT IF MY CHILD OR I ARE SICK AND I CANNOT DO MY DUTY DAY?If for whatever reason you are unable to do your duty day it is your responsibility to call another parent in your class to find a replacement. We do have a parent sign up at the beginning of the school year to be the "emergency parent", which means they tend to be flexible and can trade duty days on short notice. 3. WHAT IF I MISS A MONTLY PARENT MEETING OR WORK ON THE NIGHT IT IS HELD?Due to the fact that we are a Parent Participation Preschool and require our parents to do duty days, licensing requires that each parent fulfills a required amount of parent education hours during the month so that they can assist the teacher. Our monthly meetings not only talk about general preschool updates and information, but we also bring in speakers to discuss relevant parenting topics. Your attendance at the parent meeting fulfills your parent education hours requirement. The preschool does recognize that emergencies come up and you are allowed to miss up to two parent meetings during the school year. If you miss more than two parent meetings you will be required to perform an extra duty day to make up for the required educational hours. 4. WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO WITHDRAW MY CHILD?The preschool requires one month written notice if you need to withdraw your child. 5. CAN I BRING IN SOMETHING FOR MY CHILD'S BIRTHDAY?If it is your child's birthday please feel free to bring in a special treat. The preschool does try to make a special effort to recognize each child on or around their birthday. This usually includes being a special helper during circle time, a special birthday crown and stickers. 6. DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BE POTTY TRAINED TO ATTEND THE PRESCHOOL?Yes, your child needs to be potty trained to attend the preschool. 7. WHAT TYPE OF SNACK SHOULD I SEND WITH MY CHILD?We ask that you send healthy snacks for your child to eat during snack time and water instead of juice. |

9. DOES YOUR PRESCHOOL GO ON FIELDTRIPS?Throughout the school year the preschool goes on many fieldtrips. Some of the past field trips we have done include Hanna's Orchard, Airport, Demille's pumpkin patch, Police Station, Jungle Mania, a nature walk at the wharf, and Little Red Hen Bakery. The cost of the fieldtrips is included in the registration fees. As well the preschool does two family events each year; the year end preschool picnic in June and our Winter Party in December. All family members are invited to the family events and aside from bringing a potluck dish, there is no cost to your family. 10. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS BEING PART OF A PARENT PARTICIPATION PRESCHOOL?
11. WHAT TYPE OF FUNDRAISING DOES THE PRESCHOOL DO?As we are a non-profit organization we rely largely on our fundraising efforts to provide for our extra curricular activities like gymnastics, music classes, playground upgrades and special projects like our community gardens. One of the most recognizable events within the community is our annual Garden Tour. As well, we also fundraise through our Silent Auction, Family Movie Day, Askew's Gift Cards, and Campbell Soup Labels. |
