The children who attend the preschool learn to satisfy their curiosities, express self confidence and independence, get along with others, cope with their feelings, solve problems, feel good about themselves, and be fully prepared to enter kindergarten with confidence.

Due to the fact that we are a Parent Participation Preschool there are three things that are REQUIRED of the parents whose children attend the preschool.

1. Attend regularly and participate in monthly preschool meetings. These are held the third Wednesday of every month from 7 to 9 pm.

2. Complete one to two duty days per month in the classroom, assisting the preschool teacher in the implementation of the preschool program and enjoy being part of your child's first school experience.

3. Serve in some capacity on either the Preschool Board or on a Preschool committee and sign up and complete job posting duties.

The mission of Linda Howarth Memorial Preschool is to create a safe and enriched play based learning environment through the cooperative efforts of families, educators and community members. We believe that a child's work is play and current research proves that children, in their early years, learn best through play-based environments. Play provides essential opportunities for children to explore, experiment, and learn.

The preschool is owned and operated by the parents of preschool children ranging in age from three to five years. The school offers education and creative play activities for the children and a learning experience for the parents. Our preschool belongs to the Council of Parent Participation Preschools of BC and is licensed by the Provincial Community Care Facilities Licensing Board. We employ a qualified Early Childhood Education Teacher who directs the children's program.
